THREE
talented youngsters represented Bridgwater Amateur Swimming Club at the
South-West
regional swimming championship at Millfield School.
Jess
Barham, Alicia Symes and Adam
Parchment competed against swimmers from
all over the region after easing through the
qualifying stages.
Jess, 14, a pupil at Robert Blake Science College, competed in six
events and gained five long course personal
best times in the 50m and 100m freestyle and
the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke.
She
gained the fasted junior time of 33.7sec in the 50m backstroke to become the
South-West champ.
Alicia, 15, a pupil at Haygrove School, competed in the 50m backstroke
and achieved a new long course
personal best of 35.44sec in her first
regional event.
Adam, who goes to Bishop Fox’s School in Taunton, competed in the 50m
freestyle and achieved a personal best of 27.20sec.
The
15-year-old also gained a personal best of 31.51sec in the 50m backstroke.
The
swimmers thanked head coach Mark Rawle for his support and encouragement
and for giving up most
of his
weekend to be at the event.
