At the Club Championships Presentation Evening on the 26th January 2007, Mr David Flack,  Chairman of the ASA National Swim 21 Programme presented the club with the  Swim 21 Accreditation Certificate for Skills and Development,  David commented on "The hard work and commitment of the club volunteers and in particular their Swim 21 Co-ordinators was demonstrated by the quality of applications received by the Regional Panel”

Swim21 logois the Amateur Swimming Association’s unique ‘Club Development’ programme and clubs who go through the process are now starting to reap the rewards they deserve.

Swim21 logowas set up in 1999 and aims to act as a planning tool for clubs to help swimmers, teachers / coaches and administrators achieve their full potential. In the South West over 110 clubs have signed up for Swim21 and nationally more than half of the affiliated ASA clubs are involved.

The scheme is particularly focused on the needs of swimmers and strives to provide them with the best possible environment in which to develop.  It is regarded as the backbone of the ASA’s development programme.  The more a club puts into the process the more it will get out of it.

The 4  areas assessed for Swim21 logo accreditation are:

  • Swimming Development

  • Teacher/Coach Development

  • Club Management

  • Partnerships

A club submits evidence for accreditation which is awarded at one of 4 levels:

  • Teaching
  • Skill Development
  • Competitive Development
  • Performance

Bridgwater Swimming Club is one of only 4 Clubs in Somerset to be awarded accreditation for Swimming at Skill Development Level

This accreditation automatically qualifies us to Sport England Clubmark - a National award presented to all sports clubs that can demonstrate the provision of a quality service to its members
