SWIMMERS QUIZ – HOW WELL DO

YOU PERFORM AT COMPETITIONS?

All swimmers aim to swim the perfect race, lets see how you rate your last swim,

whether it was done in a training session or competition.

 

1. How did you prepare the night before your last race?

A. Entered a sweet eating competition (and won)

B. Danced into the early hours at a Disco

C. Eat healthily and went to bed early

 

2. What did you have for breakfast on the morning?

A. Fry-up

B. Buckets of strong coffee with biscuits for dunking

C. Toast, fruit, low-fat yoghurt and fruit juice

 

3. How did you warm-up at your last meet?

A. Watched TV and got to the pool too late for a warm-up

C. Had a good stretch, did some light swimming,

practised starts and turns, then kept warm.

 

4. Waiting for my race I:

A. Ate sweets and drank coke

B. Told myself I would lose the race

C. Rested, stretched from time to time,

5. When it was my turn to race I:

A. Ran screaming from the building

B. Went to the toilet and missed my race

C. Got up, walked calmly to the marshalling area

A. Got freaked out listening to everyone

telling me how fast they were

9. What did you do as you hit the water?

A. Sank to the bottom

B. Swam really great freestyle (but it was a fly race)

C. Held a great streamline, kicked strongly and exploded

to the surface.

 

10. During the race I;

A. Checked out the costume design of the other swimmers

B. Looked around to see who was in front

C. Swam my own race, controlled my breathing and pace

 

11. When I came to the turn I:

A. Hit my head on the wall and knocked myself out

B. Breathed on every stroke inside the flags

C. Attacked the wall, did a tight turn, kicked powerfully

out of the turn, streamlined then exploded to the surface

 

12. What did you do when you felt yourself tiring?

A. Slowed down

B. Cried and got out

C. Focused on keeping my strokes long, strong and smooth

 

13. In the final ten metres I:

A. Faked a cramp

B. Breathe on every stroke and forgot to touch the wall

C. Swam in strongly, not breathing on my last six strokes

 

14. What did you do when you finished?

A. Did another circuit because I lost count

B. Kicked the winner under the water

C. Congratulated the winner and a team-mate who had

done a PB

 

15. When I got out of the water I:

A. Made mum and dad buy we chocolate and sweets for

trying so hard

B. Got upset because I hadn’t won

C. Spoke with my coach about the race, did a swim down,

Drank some water, ate a small piece of fruit, stretched

then rested.
