Nick leads the way as Bridgwater swimmers excel
Bridgwater
Swimming Club produced some great results at the Weston Easter Open Meet,
despite having only a small team. Nick Constable
got things started in fine fashion on the Saturday morning with a personal
best in the 100m back crawl of 1:19.91. That got him into the 12 years
age-group final, where he improved his best even more to 1:18.976, finishing
fifth. Next, Rachael
Barr clocked an impressive pb of 1:11.76 in the 100 freestyle, almost a
second quicker than her previous mark. Then, in the 100m butterfly, Constable
had a great swim in the heats to reach his second final, finishing fifth
again. In the 200 back
crawl, Jess Barham improved her pb by more than three seconds, which squeezed
her into the top ten of the 11 years age-group. Then there was yet another
fifth-place finish for Constable in his age-group in the 200 back crawl. Barham went back
into the water for the 100 freestyle. A quality swim in the heats and pb by
more than a second of 1:12.83 made her seventh fastest and earned a place in
the 11 years final. She went one better in that, finishing sixth. Lucy Cornish,
also in the 100 freestyle, produced a pb of 1:07.26 to reach the 12 years
final, where she clocked 1:06.80 to take the bronze medal. Men's captain Greg
Kyd finished things off with eighth place in the final of the 100
breaststroke. Bridgwater were
also pleased to hear that, after computation of times in the third round of
the Cotswold League, they have been awarded second place and three league
points. That leaves them seventh in the table, with one round and the finals
to go. 3:14pm Tuesday 25th April 2006 |
