How to Join and Membership Information

 

The club offers young people the opportunity to:

  1.   Train regularly

  2.   Compete in competitions across the South West

  3.   Swim for fitness

 

 

For swimmers who have completed Stages 1 – 6 of the National Teaching Plan there are the following possible routes to take within the Club:

1.  SASP Academy or Youth Squad

2.  Stroke Development 1/Stroke Development 2

3.  Potential Squad

4.  Senior Squad

You will be invited by the Membership Secretary to an Initial Assessment

If suitable provision is available you will be invited to join the club

 

Membership and Fees need to be paid on or before the swimmer's first session.

Download Membership Application form here.        

To Save the Application Form to your computer: Open the Application document; Select File (on the Menu Bar ) then select "Save As", Save this file to your computer.  Once saved to your computer locate it and open it. You can now fill in the Application Form: save it when completed. You can now send it as an attachment to your e-mail to jmcar56778@aol.com or    return it to address on the Form    

 

Membership costs, fees and information 2010  

(Amended 20th October 2009)

Bridgwater Amateur Swimming Club (BASC) is a non- profit making organisation and fees are kept to the minimum requirement to meet essential expenses. 

Enrolment

Initial enrolment is done through the Membership Secretary.  Once enrolled, all swimmers are automatically re-enrolled from year to year.  It is the member’s responsibility to inform the Membership Secretary if a place is no longer required, failure to do so may result in fees being charged.

Membership

Membership runs from 1st January to 31st December each year and is payable in January.  New Members are required to pay membership fees on the date they  start swimming with the Club. 

All swimmers are required to be full members and at least one Parent/Guardian of children under the age of 16 are requested to be an associate member of BASC.   Membership rates are agreed at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), held in October/November of each year prior to the January in which they become due and payable.

Category 1 swimmer                     £20.00 per annum

Learn to Swim – no competitions  

Category 2 swimmer                     £25.00 per annum

Competitive swimmers – including National Swimming League & Cotswold Galas  

Associate Member                       £10.00 per annum

 

Swimming Fees

Fees for 2010 are payable by 12 equal monthly instalments from

January to December

Fees are agreed by the Committee and are reviewed annually.  However, should the need arise during any one year, they will be reviewed and implemented only by the Committee giving one month’s notice.  (Amended 20th October 2009)

Payment of fees are by standing order monthly  on the 1st day of each month.  Responsibility for ensuring payment lies both with BASC and the Parent (Payee).

Youth/Fitness Squad

£228.00 per annum payable monthly by Standing Order - £19.00 per month

 

SASP Academy

£276.00 per annum payable monthly by Standing Order - £23.00 per month

 

Stroke Development

£276.00 per annum payable monthly by Standing Order - £23.00 per month

 

Potential Squad

£312.00 per annum payable monthly   by Standing Order - £26.00 per month

 

Senior Squad

£420.00 per annum payable monthly by Standing Order - £35.00 per month

 

Masters Swimmers

1.  Swim with Senior Squad in Masters Session having been

assessed by Head Coach and meeting criteria below -

£324.00 per annum payable monthly by Standing Order -£27.00 per month

 

2.  Swimming for fitness only with the Youth Squad (no coaching available) - £19.00 per month

 

Fees are determined first by the Squad your child is in e.g. Senior squad swimmers annual fee is £420

regardless of the number of times they swim per week.

 

Masters Squad Fee - £27.00

A new fee has been introduced for 2010.   This is for Squad Level swimmers aged 18 years and over who wish to swim no more than 10 times per month.  Swimmers will be assessed by the Head Coach for this Squad and will need to swim 100m training sets with a 1.45 turn round time.

 

Non Local Resident Fee -  £45.00

This is available to Squad level swimmers who are not currently resident locally due to Work Commitments, University etc. in order that swimmers can continue with training when home visiting relatives or on leave.  (Approximately 20 swims per year).  This rate can apply to visiting members of other clubs who regularly holiday in this area who wish to continue their training programme.  It is a requirement that the swimmer and parent, if appropriate, are members of BASC in order that the Code of Conduct of our club applies.  It is at the discretion of the head coach as to the appropriate training lane for such swimmers.

Squad Level Swimmers wishing to swim on an occasional basis may, following the agreement of the Head Coach become a member of the Club and swim under the "Pay as You Go" scheme.  Vouchers can be purchased in blocks of 5 and 10 at a cost of £6.00 per voucher (NB Swimmers paying fees using this scheme are not eligible to represent the Club at League events (Cotswolds, Speedo etc.).   

Absences

After an absence of 4 weeks, it will be assumed that a place is no longer required and it will be offered to those on the waiting list.  Please inform the Membership Secretary if you will be away for a period of time and wish your place to be held. 

Medical Conditions

It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to inform both the Swimming Teacher and the Membership Secretary of any medical conditions, which may affect their children and their participation in BASC activities.  Further information and formalities may need to be completed. 

Insurance

Insurance arrangements are covered under the Amateur Swimming Association to whom BASC are affiliated.

 

Child Protection – Photography/Video Recording

We request that no still or moving photographs be taken during swimming sessions and galas.  If you would like to take still or moving photographs of your child during swimming sessions then permission should be sought from the Club Welfare Officer and you will be asked to sign a book for this purpose. 

Video recording may be used as a training aid by BASC coaches but only after written consent has been received from parents/guardians.  Exceptions may be made for Special Events – you will be informed of these.
