Two Teams in Action

BASC had two teams in action on Sunday, July 2.

One team were competing in the combined South West Counties Championships and South –West Regional Open Water event

The other team were at the South-West Regional Sprint meet

Open Water Championships: in the 3 km Emma Cockcroft finished as Somerset champion and fourth in the South West. The 1.5km swim, Andrew Cockcroft was the Somerset champion and also took the regional silver medal. Hayley McArthur won the gold medal in the Somerset and regional categories in the 1.5km, knocking over 4 minutes of her last years time

South-West Regional Sprint meet: competitors had to swim 50 meters in all four competitive strokes, as well as 100m Individual Medley, with the final positions worked out on total points awarded for each of the five events

Bridgwaters vice captain Amy Anderson did well in the 50m backstroke, swimming a personal best time of 37.44 secs and scored enough points in the other events to finish in her age group top ten

Rick Hayes, Bridgwaters coach, produced a personal best of 30.16 secs in the 50m butterfly and finished just outside the medals, fourth in his group

Greg Kyd was the top Bridgwater performer. He produced personal bests in both the butterfly and breaststroke, finishing fourth in his group
