Barham in fine form to take regional sprint title

Jess Barham produced a superb performance to win the 16 years age group category at the Regional Sprint Championships in Gloucester.

Several of our swimmers recorded personal best in the event and had to swim 50m and 100m sprint races in each stroke. The swimmers were awarded points for each race, depending on their time and age.

New swimmer Dacre Capstick took second place in the 16year old boys group.

Other swimmers Alicia Symes, Emma Whitemoor, Helena Taylor, Sam Young and Beth Newton also impressed during the competition.

Swimmer makes National Champonships

BRIDGWATER swimmer Charlie Attwood, aged 12, a pupil at Chilton Trinity Technology College, has made it through to the National Swimming Championships, which begin today 28July at Pons Forge, Sheffield.

Charlie qualified in the 200m breaststroke when he competed at the recent South-West Regional Championships at Millfield.

It has been several years since a Bridgwater Swimming Club swimmer achieved national times and the club is thrilled with Charlie’s success and wishes him every success at the nationals.

Club Nights

Members have asked for a 'Club Night' whereby swimmers can train together and mix with swimmers from other squads, parents can meet other members with children swimming in different squads and coaching staff/poolside volunteers are able to exchange ideas and teaching tips.

The Committee also felt that these evenings would be a good opportunity to hold fundraising and social activities.  Please support the Volunteers running these events.

The club no longer runs a Learn to Swim programme  - However in September 2009, we began working in Partnership with

Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership (SASP) who are providing a Learn to Swim Programme at Quantock Lodge.

SASP are independent from the club and administer these courses via their base at Hestercombe House.  Bridgwater Swimming Club provide some support for these lessons through volunteer Teachers/Helpers.

If your child wants to Learn to Swim then please contact SASP - there is a Link to their website (SASP LEARN TO SWIM) on the left
